Wright Pass

Photo from Wright Pass

This trans-boundry pass between Yukon and the Northwest Territories has been named in honour of the late Allen A. Wright who, as a highway engineer for Public Works Canada, determined much of the route followed today by the Dempster Highway.

On foot and by air he pioneered, surveyed and mapped the Dempster and other highway routes, including this pass through the Richardson Mountains which now carries his name in memory of his special talents and dedication.

Allen Wright is also a well-known author and historian, with a special affinity and commitment to the North that will be long remembered through his work.
