Travel the roads of central Yukon and enjoy their rich and varied histories. The Klondike Highway generally follows the trail of the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush stampeders. A loop road through the Klondike Goldfields leads past historic and present mining operations. The Robert Campbell Highway follows the route of mid-1800s fur traders and the flyway of an annual bird migration along the Tintina Trench. The Canol Road was built as a tote road for a short-lived Second World War oil pipeline and now provides access to some of the most remote parts of Yukon.
